It’s all the time good when planning pays off and color mixtures prove as you’ve hoped – and equally pleasing when one thing surprises you. I’ve a little bit of each within the backyard. The dolly tubs both facet of the entrance door have been planted with the dainty and softly colored Elka narcissus, mixed with Unique Emperor tulips to make a delicate early show that tones completely with the paint color of the entrance door. As they fade they are going to be changed with the later flowering vibrant pink tulip Barcelona which I’ve planted deeper within the tubs for a totally completely different impact.
Elsewhere within the backyard I mixed Belle Epoque tulips with bellis daisies in a stone planter and have watched in fascination because the tulips leaves have emerged with pink stripes on their leaves that precisely match the daisies – now that one wasn’t deliberate.
I’m making good progress with tidying the backyard and changing early spring pots of cyclamen and crocus with later flowering spring vegetation. My two angels all the time get the choose of the vegetation and look beautiful proper now with snakeshead fritillaries in opposition to a backdrop of pheasant grass.
